Genesis 1:27 · where it all begins
God created man in his own image.
In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.
A place to read the whole Bible — chapter by chapter, three ways, at the pace of your own life. With the early Church’s voices, the original languages and a notebook of your own. Free, for everyone, always.
The Three Postures
Start where you are.
Three ways to read, one text. They aren’t levels — you can move between them on any verse, and the words of Scripture never change.
One passage, three postures
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.
John 1:5 · WEB
Read with warmth — plain words, a first walk through the text.
“Whatever darkness you are reading this in, hold onto that line. It has never lost.”
Read with honesty — room for lament, no rushed resolution.
“He does not say the darkness is not real. … He says only that the light is still shining inside it and has not been put out.”
Read with rigour — the original words, the fathers, the doctrine.
“And “overcome” carries a double sense in the original: the darkness neither defeated the light nor understood it.”
